Wednesday October 28th

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students were divided into their groups they will be in tomorrow on the field trip, where they determined the roles each group member will have on the trip. There was then a quiz on the procedures they will be using in the field.
Homework: get supplies together for field trip on Thursday

7th Grade Math: In math 7th graders continued reviewing metric units. We did many practice problems converting metric units together, before students were handed a worksheet on section 2.7 given to them to assess their skills.
Homework: Review Homework #14 and finish worksheet 2.7 both to be due Friday. Chapter Two test is scheduled for Monday.

8th Grade Math: In math 8th graders reviewed combining like terms (Review Homework #11). We continued working with section 2.5 which covers how to solve algebraic equations that include addition and subtraction operations.
Homework: Finish Review #12 (due Friday)

Tuesday October 27th

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students completed a rehearsal of the data collection process we will be completing on Thursday of this week. Students worked within the team of three students that they will be working with on the field trip to Eaglecrest road. Students need to remember to bring a lunch, backpack, raincoat, rain boots, warm hat, and gloves for the field trip on Thursday.
Homework: get supplies together for field trip on Thursday

7th Grade Math: In math 7th graders reviewed units for metric measurement. The class was then introduced to a process for converting between metric units.
Homework: Review Homework #13 due Wednesday

8th Grade Math: In math 8th graders reviewed combining like terms (Review Homework #11). We then introduced section 2.5 which covers how to solve algebraic equations that include addition and subtraction operations.
Homework: Finish Review #11 (due Wednesday)

Monday October 26th

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today's science class consisted of the students continuing to work on their procedures needed to complete the deer study. Students went outside to the soccer field and worked on practicing the complete procedure list they will need to perfect for the deer study on Thursday.
Homework: none

7th Grade Math: Today in math students were introduced to section 2.6, measuring in metric units. After some class instruction and discussion, students did some practice problems from the book, getting checked off by the teacher and given a worksheet to practice on their own.
Homework: Review Homework #13 due Wednesday

8th Grade Math: In math 8th graders took a new quiz on the distributive property of multiplication. Afterwards, they had a worksheet on section 2.4 to work on and finish in class.
Homework: Review Homework # 11 due Wednesday

Wednesday October 21st

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today's science class consisted of the students continuing to work on their procedures needed to complete the deer study. Students went outside to the soccer field and worked on their compass skills. Students then came back inside to calculate the different percentages of canopy coverages they observed in the field work they did yesterday.
Homework: none

7th Grade Math: Today in math students went over the definition of scientific notation for review. They started the day doing a Problem of the day, before jumping into examples and a further explanation of how to convert numbers between standard form and scientific notation. After a few practice problems, students were given a worksheet to assess their skills.
Homework: Review Homework #12 due Friday, and finish the worksheet 2.5 for Thursday if they didn't finish in class.

8th Grade Math: In math 8th graders continued their quest to understand the distributive property of multiplication. Students went through the last quiz and corrected any problems they may have missed on the quiz and had the opportunity to keep practicing their skills by using the website www.classzone.com once they finished their corrections.
Homework: Review Homework # 10 due Friday; Make up for Quiz #2 on Friday

Tuesday October 20th

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today's science class consisted of the students continuing to work on their procedures needed to complete the deer study. Today we introduced the idea of canopy coverage in the forest through estimation to give the result a quantifiable number. We have set the date of Thursday October 29th as the day of the field trip to Eaglecrest to put everything we have learned about data collection to work in the field.
Homework: none

7th Grade Math: Today in math students went over the results from the area/perimeter exercise from yesterday, compared answers with each other and found the correct answer together. Students were then introduced to section 2.5 and scientific notation. We went over the general definition and ideas associated with scientific notation, before doing quite a few examples as a class.
Homework: Review Homework #11 due Wednesday

8th Grade Math: In math 8th graders continued their life math project. They finished working on the process of buying a house and how to juggle the money aspects of the process. They also worked on the options of renting an apartment/house if they couldn't afford to buy a house.
Homework: Finish Life Math Housing Worksheets (#1= Costs of Buying a Home & #2= Costs of Renting a Home)
