Tuesday November 24th

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students finished their experiments on density of fluids and made graphs of the data that they collected.
Homework: finish graphs and conclusion for density of fluid lab

7th Grade Math: Today students learned about stem and leaf plots to organize and review data sets.
Homework:

8th Grade Math: Today 8th graders graded section 3.3 practice. The class then reviewed from their notes and the textbook before completing a quiz over sections 3.1-3.3 (solving multi-step algebraic equations).
Homework: Review #3 is due Wednesday

Monday November 23rd

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students continued working on a lab studying the density of fluids in Mr. Watts' room.
Homework: none

7th Grade Math: Today students learned about line graphs and bar graphs.
Homework:

8th Grade Math: Today 8th graders reviewed how to solve equations with variables on both sides of the equal sign. They then finished working on 3.3 practice in class. Tomorrow there will be a quiz over section 3.1-3.3.

Thursday November 19th

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students began graphing and drawing conclusions from the data they collected during yesterday's viscosity lab.
Homework: finish write up (both bar graph and line graph) for viscosity lab #2

7th Grade Math: In 7th grade math students discussed line and bar graphs, and started working on worksheet 3.2 in class. Halfway through class, students were given a pop quiz on section 3.1 dealing with finding the mean, median, mode and range of a data set. Once students finished the quiz, they went back to working on their worksheet.
Homework: Finish worksheet on section 3.2 for class on Friday.

8th Grade Math: Today 8th graders corrected section 3.2 practice in class. Students then completed a pop quiz over material from sections 3.1 and 3.2 . After grading the quiz the instructor gave students the option to get a 5/5 on the quiz by completing 5 practice problems in the textbook and check their answers in the back of the book.
Homework: none

Tuesday November 17th

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students began a new unit on chemistry and matter. The initial focus is how scientists can classify matter based upon its physical properties. In today's lab students observed properties of five unknown fluids. They wrote observations for each and then made predictions of what each substance was.
Homework: none

7th Grade Math: In 7th grade math students finished an activity to practice finding the mean, median, and mode of a data set. The data they worked with today was the age of each President upon their inauguration.
Homework: Review Homework #16 (Due Wednesday)

8th Grade Math: Today 8th graders corrected section 3.1 practice. We then reviewed how to solve distributive property expressions and introduced how to solve equations with parentheses (distributive property of multiplication).
Homework: Review Homework #2 (due Wednesday)

Monday November 16th

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students completed a self evaluation of their deer study write up. Any students who were not finished were reminded that their work was late and they had to work on it in Mr. Kovach's room. Students who finished on time were given the chance to earn extra credit by watching a "Mythbusters" episode and completing a worksheet to identify the question being studied, the variables being tested, the methods used to complete the experiment, the results and conclusions.
Homework: none

7th Grade Math: In 7th grade math students completed another activity to practice finding the mean, median, and mode of a data set. The data they worked with today was the age of each President upon their inauguration.
Homework: Review Homework #16 (Due Wednesday)

8th Grade Math: Today 8th graders reviewed how to solve one step equations. We then launched into section 3.1 (chapter 3) and learned how to solve two step equations.
Homework:
  • Finish section 3.1 practice odds (due tomorrow)
  • Review Homework #2 (due Wednesday)
