Monday November 16th

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students completed a self evaluation of their deer study write up. Any students who were not finished were reminded that their work was late and they had to work on it in Mr. Kovach's room. Students who finished on time were given the chance to earn extra credit by watching a "Mythbusters" episode and completing a worksheet to identify the question being studied, the variables being tested, the methods used to complete the experiment, the results and conclusions.
Homework: none


7th Grade Math: In 7th grade math students completed another activity to practice finding the mean, median, and mode of a data set. The data they worked with today was the age of each President upon their inauguration.
Homework: Review Homework #16 (Due Wednesday)

8th Grade Math: Today 8th graders reviewed how to solve one step equations. We then launched into section 3.1 (chapter 3) and learned how to solve two step equations.
Homework:
  • Finish section 3.1 practice odds (due tomorrow)
  • Review Homework #2 (due Wednesday)

Monday November 9th

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students continued working on the rough draft of their introductions, procedures and began working with the data for the results section of their deer study write ups.
Homework: none


7th Grade Math: In math 7th graders began chapter 3 today. Today was mostly a note taking day, as Mr. Olsen introduced four new vocabulary words to students and helped the students organize and take proper notes, as these vocab words will need to be referenced throughout the chapter. Section 3.1 Mean, Median and Mode.
Homework: Review Homework #15 (due Thursday)


8th Grade Math: In math 8th graders began the MAP testing this week.

Tuesday November 3rd

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students continued working on the rough draft of their introductions for their deer study write ups.
Homework: none


7th Grade Math: In math 7th graders corrected the mistakes from their chapter 2 test. We will retest as a class on Friday.
Homework: None


8th Grade Math: In math 8th graders began with a Problem of the Day before being introduced to section 2.7. After some instruction and practice problems, students were given a worksheet to work on their skills.
Homework: Finish Review #14 (due Friday)

Tuesday November 3rd

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students got back into their deer study groups and calculated the canopy coverage from the plots that they did their field work at. Afterwards, students continued working on the rough draft of their introductions for their deer study write ups.

7th Grade Math: In math 7th graders took the chapter 2 test!
Homework: None


8th Grade Math: In math 8th graders began the day by finishing up the worksheet for section 2.6, then we graded the worksheet as a class. Students then worked on the website www.classzone.com to continue practicing their skills from sections 2.5 and 2.6.

Monday November 2nd

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students began the process of debriefing from our field trip to eaglecrest last Thursday. Now that we have collected field data, we need to begin the process of analyzing the data and doing the write up. For the next two weeks we will be working on the next project, the Deer Study Write Up.
Homework: none


7th Grade Math: In math 7th graders worked on a review worksheet for chapter two and were able to ask questions to help prepare for the chapter test tomorrow. Students also can work on chapter 2 review questions on pages 97-101 in the text book this evening.
Homework: Chapter 2 Test on Tuesday


8th Grade Math: In math 8th graders began the day with a pop quiz before being introduced to section 2.6. Students were given a number of problems to solve before being given a worksheet to work on in class, and if they did not finish in class, they will have the first 20 minutes of class tomorrow to finish up before we grade it together.
