7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today in science students were introduced to the pioneering work of Gregor Mendel in the field of genetics. Students learned important terminology, including heredity, allele, dominant alleles and recessive alleles. The class then started on an assignment where they assigned alleles to various traits of a character from the cartoon Sponge Bob.
Homework: Finish Sponge Bob character genetic profile assignment
7th Grade Math: In 7th grade math we went over the homework from last night to make some clarifying corrections to the directions. Students were then instructed to finish by tomorrow's class (given an extra day to finish). We then transitioned to the cabin building project. Students continued working on their draft blueprints and cost calculations.
Homework: Finish Review #9 (due Thursday)
8th Grade Math: Today 8th graders completed the chapter 7 test.
Homework: Complete optional homework assignment Review #9 (to make up for one assignment that students may have missing)

7th & 8th Grade General Science: Today, Ms. Smith's Homeroom had science class and continued to learn about genetic engineering. They watched a short video about scientists who genetically engineered a goat to produce the protein used to make "spider silk" (webs). Students then began an assignment where they make a proposal to genetically engineer a new organism that combines the advantageous traits of one organism into another. This assignment is due tomorrow if students did not finish it during class. The second science class finished listening to the 8th grade GPS project presentations. They will move back into a regular science schedule tomorrow.
Homework: 10:00 science class finish "Frankenism" Assignment
7th Grade Math: In math 7th graders continued to work on their cabin projects. Today they focused on finishing previous days work and moving on into their roof design.
Homework: Finish Review #9 (due Wednesday)
8th Grade Math: Today 8th graders worked on the Chapter 7 test review in the book. They completed odd numbered problems so that they could check their answers in the back of the book. They then checked in with their instructor to get credit for this work that they added into their notebook.
